LaVerne Manos

LaVerne Manos is a Clinical Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, University of Kansas Medical Center. She serves as Director of the Interprofessional Master of Science in Health Informatics Program and Coordinator for the DNP Informatics Specialization. She leads the Center for Health Informatics, a center of excellence supporting the University and region. Her professional roles include Director/VP of Informatics at Nueterra Healthcare, Director of Surgical Services, and Senior Solution Designer at Cerner Corporation.

Education: DNP, MSN, and BSN in Nursing from the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Research focuses on interprofessional informatics education, virtual reality simulations, and Instasim® applications in collaborative practice. She has led or co-led grants such as the $998,006 DHHS-funded 'Interprofessional Collaborative Acute Care Practice - Pediatrics' (2012-2015) and a KU Medical School-funded study on healthcare language hierarchy (2015-2016).

Awards include the 2015 Nurse of the Year Award for Nursing Informatics. Professional roles include Chair of AMIA’s Academic Forum, Board Member of INSciTS, and member of CAHIIM’s Informatics Accreditation Commission. Certified in Nursing Informatics (FAMIA).
