Yanshan Wang

Yanshan Wang is an Assistant Professor and Vice Chair of Research in the Department of Health Information Management at the University of Pittsburgh, with secondary appointments in Biomedical Informatics, Intelligent Systems, and Clinical and Translational Science. He leads the PittNAIL Lab, pioneering generative AI and clinical NLP applications in healthcare. His research focuses on leveraging AI and EHR data to address clinical challenges, with an emphasis on ethical implications and bias mitigation.

Education: PhD and MS from Korea University; BS from Harbin Institute of Technology.

Research interests include clinical NLP, generative AI, machine learning for healthcare, and ethical frameworks like the GREAT PLEA principles. He chairs AMIA's Natural Language Processing Working Group and leads NIH-funded projects like the ENACT Network.

Awards include Fellow of the American Medical Informatics Association (FAMIA). His work spans grants in AI ethics, rehabilitation research, and rare disease identification.
