LU Hongxing

LU Hongxing is a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). He joined SUSTech in 2017 after completing his PhD and has progressed from Research Assistant Professor to his current position. He also serves as General Manager of Shenzhen Nanke-qiangzheng Light Alloy Technology Co., Ltd. and Deputy Secretary General of the Semi-solid Working Committee of the China Foundry Association.

His educational background includes:

Dr. Lu's research focuses on lightweight materials and manufacturing technologies for vehicles and communication equipment. His work spans multiple areas including new alloy design, semi-solid processing theory and technology, and lightweight component design and manufacturing. He has particular expertise in aluminum alloy semi-solid forming, die-casting technologies, and intelligent manufacturing systems. His research combines fundamental materials science with practical engineering applications to solve industry challenges in lightweighting.

His publication record shows a strong focus on semi-solid processing of aluminum alloys, with recent work expanding into additive manufacturing techniques like selective laser melting. The research demonstrates progression from fundamental studies of microstructure and material behavior to applied research addressing specific industrial challenges in casting and forming processes.

His research group focuses on advanced forming technologies and collaborates closely with industry partners to translate research into practical applications.

Dr. Lu leads research activities within the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at SUSTech, which houses specialized laboratories for additive manufacturing, precision machining, and materials testing. His work is closely tied to the Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Additive Manufacturing of High-Performance Materials and contributes to SUSTech's broader research initiatives in intelligent manufacturing.
