Levent Yikici serves as an Assistant Professor at Gaziantep University's Nizip Faculty of Education, Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education. He has held this academic position since 2022 and currently serves as Dean Assistant (since 2024), demonstrating significant institutional involvement beyond teaching responsibilities. His career at Gaziantep University spans over 15 years, during which he has held multiple administrative roles including Director of Application and Research Center (2014-2016) and Deputy Director of Vocational School (2009-2015).
Dr. Yikici completed his entire academic training at Gaziantep University, earning his Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature (1995-2000), Master's degree in History with thesis (2010-2013), and Doctorate in History (2014-2018). His educational background uniquely combines language expertise with historical scholarship.
His research focuses primarily on Turkish historical studies, particularly Atatürk's Principles and History of the Republic, Balkan Wars based on British archival sources, Turkish-Soviet relations, and Turkish educational history. Dr. Yikici has developed a distinctive methodology examining historical events through primary source analysis, especially British diplomatic records. His scholarly work consistently bridges historical research with educational applications, as evidenced by his teaching portfolio that spans both historical subjects and practical educational methodologies.
Among his notable achievements, Dr. Yikici received the 20th International Service Award to the Turkish World (Project of the Year) from the Turkish World Writers and Artists Foundation (TÜRKSAV) in 2016. He has supervised two master's theses, with one currently in progress examining critical thinking and entrepreneurship skills among middle school students.
