Selim Saygin is an Assistant Professor at Gaziantep University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of History, specializing in the history of the Republic of Turkey, Atatürk's principles, and regional resistance movements. He holds a Ph.D. (2020) and Master's (2016) in History from Gaziantep University, along with a Bachelor's (2011) from Dokuz Eylul University.

His research focuses on the Turkish National Struggle, Ottoman Empire decline, military coups, and regional political dynamics. He has contributed to books analyzing Gaziantep's liberation, the National Pact, and the impact of the May 27 Military Coup on southern Turkey. His work also examines electoral politics during the Democrat Party era and the role of independence courts in post-Ottoman state formation.
Saygin has presented at international conferences, including papers on Ankara's Treaty of Lausanne, Turkey-Bulgaria relations, and the Kuvay-i Milliye's activities in Nizip. He teaches courses on Constitutional Movements in Türkiye, Atatürk's Principles, War of Independence, Science History, and International Organizations. His publications emphasize interdisciplinary approaches combining political, legal, and cultural history.
