Léa-Catherine Szacka

Dr. Léa-Catherine Szacka is Senior Lecturer in Architectural Studies at the University of Manchester's School of Environment, Education & Development, where she directs the Manchester Architecture Research Group (MARG). She holds a PhD in Architectural History from University College London (2011) and has taught at Harvard GSD, ETH Zürich, TU Delft, and other global institutions.

Her research spans:

• Postmodern architectural theory and its media representations
• History of architecture exhibitions (Venice Biennale, Rotterdam IABR)
• Relationships between space, television, and architecture
• Ephemeral urban structures and political scenography
• Curatorial practices as critical architectural discourse

Publications demonstrate strong focus on:

• Television's impact on spatial perception (2024 research)
• Critical regionalism and populist aesthetics

Awards include the 2017 Alice Davis Hitchcock Medallion. She has secured funding from Graham Foundation, Paul Mellon Centre, and European networks. Current PhD supervisions explore geopolitics of architectural exhibitions, Saudi architectural education, and Froebel's spatial pedagogy.
