Kyra Hong is a String Project Instructor at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin, specializing in Music Composition with a minor in Arts Management and Administration. She holds Suzuki certification and is a member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA). Her roles include teaching cello and composition through her home studio since 2021 and instructing with the UT String Project.
As a composer, her works have been premiered by the UT String Project Faculty Orchestra, Golden Hornet’s fundraiser events, and the 2024 Young Composer’s Concert at KMFA. Notable compositions include Makani on the Mountain (world premiere by DSYO in 2024) and Morpheus’s Dreams (viola and cello duet). She founded The Homeschool Orchestra during high school to provide ensemble opportunities for homeschooled string players.
Her creative portfolio extends to webcomic creation, novel writing, visual arts, and performance as a cellist and singer-songwriter. She maintains an active online presence through her website and social media.
