Kyoko Sato serves as Lecturer in both the Department of Curriculum, Teaching & Learning and Social Justice Education program at the University of Toronto's Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), where she bridges educational theory with critical social justice frameworks.
Her research centers on:
- Trans-Pacific Asian diaspora studies
- Colonialism and imperialism in the Asia-Pacific region
- Historical materialist analyses of educational institutions
- Politics of listening as transformative educational practice
- Creative writing exploring memory and politics of silence
Professor Sato's publication trajectory (2006-2022) demonstrates consistent engagement with language, power, and education, evolving from empirical teacher education research toward creative explorations of memory. This interdisciplinary approach connects linguistic analysis with postcolonial theory and narrative forms.
