Professor Kylie Hesketh is a research-intensive academic at Deakin University, affiliated with the Faculty of Health, School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences, and the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN). She holds the title of Professor and is the coordinator of the Healthy Active Living Domain within IPAN. She is currently a Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellow, supporting her research on early childhood health behaviors.
Her research focuses on parenting, physical activity, sedentary behaviors, and obesity prevention in children and youth, with a strong emphasis on early childhood and scalable family-based interventions. Her work integrates training in psychology, pediatric public health, and behavioral epidemiology. She leads multiple large-scale national and international projects and has a strong record of stakeholder engagement.
Her recent publications highlight her focus on digital health interventions, movement behavior composition, early life obesity risk prediction, and father engagement in child health. Themes across her research include behavior change, implementation science, and health equity, particularly in migrant and disadvantaged populations.

Professor Hesketh actively supervises PhD and Masters students and has contributed significantly to research capacity building. She supervises ongoing projects related to toddler self-regulation, paternal postnatal depression, parenting strategies, and infant cardiovascular outcomes. She has also been involved in university-level committees related to higher degree research.
