Professor Anna Timperio, Deakin University's Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition (IPAN) Deputy Director and School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences Deputy Head, is a leading researcher in physical activity, sedentary behavior, and built environment influences on health. She holds a National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship and has led major grants since 2014, including NHMRC and VicHealth projects.

Her research spans longitudinal studies tracking behavioral transitions from childhood to adulthood, built environment assessments for active living, and intervention evaluations like the TransformUs program. She pioneered AI-based motor competence tools and park design research for diverse age groups.
Recent publications focus on urban mobility, park-based physical activity, and socioeconomic health disparities. Awards include NHF Future Leader Fellowship and VicHealth Fellowships. She supervises 23 PhD students and collaborates with IPAN's Centre for Sport Research and Baker-Deakin Department of Lifestyle and Diabetes.
