Kyle Velte is a Professor of Law and Associate Dean for Faculty at the University of Kansas School of Law, holding the Karelitz Chair in Evidence Law. He specializes in the intersection of sexuality, gender, and law, with a focus on conflicts between religious freedom and LGBTQ+ rights. His teaching includes Evidence, Torts, Employment Discrimination, and Sexual Orientation & the Law. Velte earned his LL.M. from Harvard Law School and J.D. summa cum laude from American University, and a B.A. cum laude from Hamilton College. Prior to academia, he practiced litigation, clerked for Colorado Supreme Court justices, and held roles at Texas Tech and Denver Sturm Colleges of Law. His scholarship emphasizes legal strategies to combat discrimination and has influenced high-profile Supreme Court cases like Fulton v. Philadelphia and Masterpiece Cakeshop.
