Kyle Kindred (b. 1978, he/him) is a Professor and Director of Composition Studies at Sam Houston State University’s School of Music. His work spans melodramatic, theatrical, and contemporary music composition, with global performances across the US, Canada, Japan, Europe, and South America.

Kindred’s research and creative output focuses on blending narrative-driven scores with interdisciplinary collaborations. His compositions, such as the Sleeping Bear trio and scores for the LEGO Harry Potter and the Transgender Witch series, highlight his expertise in integrating music with visual storytelling and digital media.
He is currently composing the musical Ruffled Flourishes (based on Peter Roussel’s novel) and the feature film Tasmania, further expanding his work in film and theatrical scoring.
