Kyle Brannon is a Professor in the School of Communication at American University, serving as the Associate Division Director for Film & Media Arts. He teaches courses including Film and Video Production, Visual Literacy, and The Story of Film for Spring and Fall 2025 semesters.
Professor Brannon's creative and academic work spans film production, visual literacy, projection design, and storytelling. With extensive professional experience as a VJ and media designer, his work bridges academic theory with practical application in theater, museums, and live events. His background includes creating immersive video experiences for major venues across the United States and international collaborations.

As an educator, Professor Brannon advises AU's chapter of Delta Kappa Alpha and produces/directs the American Visions Awards, SOC's film awards ceremony. He has conducted workshops for numerous film festivals and served as a judge for multiple film competitions including DC Webfest, DC Shorts, and TIVA Awards.
Professor Brannon has professional experience producing media for major institutions including The Smithsonian, The Civil Rights Museum of Topeka Kansas, Historic Jamestowne, and The Great Lakes Science Center. He is co-author of the textbook Visual Literacy from Kendall Hunt Publishing, now in its second edition.
