Dr. Kyle Bishop is a Professor of English and Academic Coordinator of the Honors Program at Southern Utah University (SUU). He holds a Bachelor's in Humanities from Brigham Young University, a Master's in English from the University of Utah, and a Ph.D. in American Literature and Film from the University of Arizona. His teaching focuses on film and television studies, American literature, genre fiction, and composition. He leads study abroad programs exploring topics like British Gothic literature and Frankenstein's cultural legacy in Europe and New Zealand.
Bishop’s research interests center on zombie culture, Gothic literature, and the intersection of pop culture with broader societal anxieties. He authored How Zombies Conquered Popular Culture and American Zombie Gothic, and maintains an active social media presence as @DrWalkingDead. His courses include ENGL 3110 (Literature and Film), HONR 4040 (Honors Capstone), and interdisciplinary topics like Sci-Fi Film analysis. Beyond academia, he enjoys travel, snowshoeing, and collecting Star Wars Legos.
