Kyaw Soe

Kyaw Soe, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Endocrinology. He is also a staff physician at the North Texas VA Health Care System in Dallas, serving on the VHA Transgender Care Coordination (TCC) Integrated Project Team.

Dr. Soe earned his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine in Yangon, Myanmar. He completed his internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine since joining UT Southwestern in 2016, his clinical expertise spans endocrinology with a focus on transgender care, lipid metabolism, and cardiovascular outcomes.

His research emphasizes transgender health, particularly gender-affirming hormone therapy, as well as cardiovascular and kidney disease comorbidities in diabetes. He has led clinical trials and published extensively on topics like estradiol dosing protocols, hyperparathyroidism management, and finerenone’s role in diabetic kidney disease. Recent work includes lipid optimization initiatives at the Dallas VA and interventions to improve hyperparathyroidism diagnosis rates.

Dr. Soe’s contributions extend to collaborative projects such as the FIDELITY trial analyzing finerenone’s renal and cardiovascular benefits. His peer-reviewed publications reflect a focus on bridging clinical practice and outcomes research in endocrinology, nephrology, and transgender medicine.
