Kwamina Panford is an Associate Professor at Northeastern University within the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, specifically affiliated with the Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies department. His research focuses on Africa and global studies, with an emphasis on labor, development, natural resources, and public policy in the context of extractive industries such as oil, gas, gold, and cocoa in Ghana. He has contributed to policy development in Ghana, notably through his involvement in drafting the Petroleum Revenue Management Act (2011) and leading the creation of Ghana’s Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) Reports, including four out of eight total reports.
His scholarly work includes publications in Africa Today and the Ghana Public Policy Journal, alongside his acclaimed book Africa’s Natural Resources & Underdevelopment: How Ghana’s Petroleum Can Create Sustainable Economic Prosperity (Palgrave Macmillan, 2017). Panford has also played a pivotal role in mentoring students who have secured placements in prestigious graduate programs, such as the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and in high-level positions like the White House and senior diplomatic offices. He is affiliated with the Center for International Affairs & World Cultures at Northeastern University.
