Kuize Zhang

Dr. Kuize Zhang is a Lecturer at the University of Surrey, affiliated with the Nature Inspired Computing and Engineering Research Group within the Computer Science Research Centre, School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. His research focuses on controllability, observability, and other fundamental properties in Boolean control networks and discrete-event systems, with applications to cyber-physical systems. He holds a PhD from Harbin Engineering University (2014) and conducted postdoctoral research at KTH Royal Institute of Technology (2017–2020), Technical University of Munich (2016–2017), and was an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow at Technical University of Berlin (2020–2022).

His observability verification method (observability graph) has been widely adopted since 2015. He developed the NEWT framework for discrete-event systems, offering scalable solutions for property verification and enforcement.
