Krisztián Horváth serves as a Research Fellow in the Economics Department at the Institute for East and Southeast European Research (IOS), Regensburg. His academic and professional trajectory bridges health economics, epidemiology, and public health policy, with a current focus on the nexus between political stability and green transition funded by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU).
Horváth holds two Master of Science degrees from Corvinus University Budapest and Eötvös Loránd University. His educational background underpins his expertise in quantitative health economic analysis and policy evaluation.
His primary research domains include Health Economics, Epidemiology, Public Health Financing, Digital Health Technologies, Environmental and Occupational Health, and the socio-political dimensions of sustainable transition. Notably, he co-authored studies on disease burden (e.g., Hungarian lung cancer) and health system financing, and currently leads DBU-supported research on green transition dynamics.
Horváth has successfully managed competitive grants, including Innovative Health Initiative (IHI) consortium projects at GE HealthCare and the DBU scholarship at IOS. He founded the "Semmelweis Study", Hungary's pioneering national occupational cohort study examining risk factors in healthy ageing, demonstrating leadership in large-scale epidemiological research.
