Kristy Slominski is a Professor of Religious Studies at the University of Arizona's College of Humanities. She specializes in intersections between religion, science, health, and sexuality in U.S. history. Her research emphasizes religious contributions to sex education and medical humanities, culminating in her award-winning book Teaching Moral Sex (Oxford UP, 2021), recognized as one of Oxford's 'Most Read in Religion' for that year.
Education: Ph.D. in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara. She teaches courses on religion and health (RELI 303/406/506), religion and science (RELI/PHIL 326), and world religions (RELI 160D4). Her interdisciplinary work includes co-directing the Institute for the Study of Religion and Culture with Dr. Alison Jameson, and leading global initiatives like the Religion, Health, and Humanities Researchers network.
Awards include the College of Humanities' inaugural Dorrance Dean's Award for developing health humanities training programs for medical/nursing students. Her research bridges historical analysis with contemporary issues in medical ethics, faith-based education, and cultural studies.
