Kristopher McConnell is an Associate Professor of Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at Judson College and held postdoctoral positions at Syracuse University and Indiana University. His academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biomolecular Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (2007) and a B.S. in Biology from Southeast Missouri State University (2000).
Research Interests: Dr. McConnell’s lab investigates genetic regulation in organismal development, using the fruit fly Drosophila melanogaster ovary as a model. This system allows exploration of cellular processes relevant to embryonic development. He emphasizes undergraduate research, offering students hands-on experience in fluorescence microscopy and opportunities to present at scientific conferences.
Awards:
- 2022 – Students’ Choice for Outstanding On-Campus Teaching
- 2018 – Mary Gibson Thompson Faculty Award
- 2013 – Lula and Alton Holley Award for Excellence in Classroom Teaching
Labs/Teams: His lab focuses on developmental biology and genetic regulation, providing mentorship to undergraduates through experimental and analytical research projects.
