Kristofor R Brye is a University Professor of Applied Soil Physics and Pedology at the University of Arkansas, affiliated with the Department of Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences within Bumpers College. He has held academic roles since 2001, advancing from Assistant Professor to his current rank. His research focuses on soil physics, pedology, and environmental impacts of agricultural practices, with notable work on cover crops, soil health, and biochar applications. Brye also serves as Director of the Experiment Station and contributes to the Crop, Soil, and Environmental Sciences Facilities and Agricultural Statistic Laboratory.
Education: B.S. (1995) and M.S. (1997) in Soil Science from the University of Wisconsin, followed by a Ph.D. (1999) in Soil Physics with minors in Environmental Law. His research integrates field studies and lab analyses to address challenges in sustainable agriculture and environmental remediation. Collaborative projects include heavy metal remediation using industrial hemp and biochar, as well as phosphorus fertilizer alternatives in rice systems.
Publications emphasize soil-plant interactions, greenhouse gas emissions, and precision agriculture. His work has implications for mitigating climate change through improved soil management and reducing agricultural environmental footprints.
