Kristine L. Bowman

Kristine L. Bowman is the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs in the College of Education at Michigan State University (MSU) and holds a joint appointment as Professor of Law and Professor of Education Policy. She leads a unit managing over 20 staff with a $3M budget, focusing on student support and innovative academic programs like college-based certificates.

• Education: J.D. (magna cum laude) and M.A. from Duke University; Ph.D. in Political Science from University of Queensland; B.A. (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Drake University.

Her research expertise spans education law and policy, with a focus on liberty, equality, racial equity, and free speech across education levels. She has authored ~30 articles and book chapters, four books, and presented globally. Bowman’s work emphasizes collaborative leadership in higher education administration and policy innovation.
