Kristina Stinson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Environmental Conservation at the School of Earth and Sustainability, University of Massachusetts Amherst. She serves as Graduate Program Director and leads the Stinson Lab, focusing on plant responses to biophysical stress and climate variation across forests, urban ecosystems, and alpine environments.
- Key Projects:
- Ecological impacts of invasive mustards and garlic mustard
- Plant-soil feedbacks in invaded ecosystems
- Climate change effects on maple physiology and distribution
- Urban forest restoration in post-industrial settings
- Ecotypic variation across climate gradients
Research Themes include plant population dynamics, invasive species ecology, mycorrhizal interactions, and climate adaptation strategies, with applications to ecosystem restoration and conservation. Her work spans both theoretical and applied domains.
Recent Publications demonstrate expertise in plant invasion mechanisms, fungal community dynamics, and climate impacts on forest species. She advises students in Organismic & Evolutionary Biology, Plant Biology, and Environmental Conservation graduate programs.
