Kristina Pirker

Dr. Kristina Pirker is a Full-time Professor and researcher at the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora in Mexico City, and a Lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She held a visiting Senior Research Fellow position at the University of Vienna's Department of International Politics (2022–2023). A member of the Mexican National System of Researchers (Level I), her work focuses on social movements, political violence, and anti-imperialism in Latin America.

Her research explores themes such as transnational activism, state violence, and political identities in Central America and Mexico. She coordinates the Inter-institutional Seminar on Theoretical-Methodological Strategies to Study Violence in Latin America and participates in the Geopolitics and Borders Seminar with the University of Quintana Roo.

Dr. Pirker has supervised over a dozen theses on topics like femicide in Mexico, labor migration, and political discourses in Caracas. Her publications include books on El Salvador's social mobilization and anti-imperialist strategies in Latin America.
