Dr. Ana Miranda Mora is an Assistant Professor of Gender and Postcolonial Studies at the Department of Media and Culture Studies, Graduate Gender Programme, Utrecht University, where she has been employed since 2024. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor for Political Theory at the Technical University Dresden (2023-2024) and was a Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow at Yale University (2023-2024). Her academic career includes positions at Innsbruck University, Justus Liebig University Giessen, Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin, and the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).
Dr. Miranda Mora's educational background includes a PhD in Philosophy from UNAM and Humboldt University (2015-2021), an MA in Philosophy from UNAM (2011-2014), and a BA in Philosophy from UNAM (2006-2011).
Her research focuses on the intersection of political and legal philosophy, Critical Theory, and 20th and 21st Century Feminist Theory. She employs both historical and systematic approaches to analyze cultural and sociopolitical issues within their conceptual histories. Her work addresses normative questions informed by practical realities and current social and political challenges, particularly concerning social justice, equality, democracy, and the rule of law in relation to domination and violence amidst power hierarchies.
Dr. Miranda Mora's publications reveal a strong focus on gender-based and sexual violence, domestic and care work, anti-feminist movements, and the intersection of feminism with Marxism and postcolonial theory. Her recent work has increasingly addressed the impact of ecological crises on gendered labor and care work, as well as Latin American perspectives on violence and political philosophy.

Dr. Miranda Mora teaches courses including Politics of Representation: Critical Approaches to Gender, Race and Culture; Gender, Ethnicity and Religious Practices in European Contexts; Religion and Secularism: Postsecular Perspectives; and Research Design II RMA Gender. Her teaching reflects her research interests in gender studies, postcolonial theory, and political philosophy.
Based at the Utrecht University Humanities Institute for Cultural Inquiry, Dr. Miranda Mora contributes to the vibrant intellectual community focused on critical cultural analysis and interdisciplinary approaches to contemporary social issues.
