Kristina Gustafsson is a Professor in Social Work at Linnaeus University, Sweden, specializing in linguistic justice, migration, and postcolonial studies. She holds a PhD in Ethnology (2004) and has been active in academia since 1997, teaching courses on migration, research ethics, and qualitative methods. Her work focuses on welfare systems, interpreting services, and social justice in multilingual contexts.
Research & Projects: She leads the Nordic Research Environment on Language, Justice and the Welfare State (2023–2027), exploring linguistic rights and migration. Key projects include 'Interpreters' Knowledge: Linguistic Justice and Equal Public Service' (2020–2022) and analyses of child interpreters in welfare settings. She co-directs the Ethnographic Forum and is part of the Social Work and Migration research group.
Contributions: Authored/co-authored over 50 publications, including the book *Interpreted Encounters* (2014/2020). Her work addresses discrimination, power asymmetries, and ethical practices in welfare interactions. She serves on the Ethics Review Authority and the Swedish Emigrant Institute board.
