Prof. Kristina Endres serves as Professor and Head of the Research Group for Molecular Mechanisms of Healthy Aging and Neurodegeneration at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Faculty of Medicine, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Education:
- 2001: Diplom in Biology with distinction (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz)
- 2005: PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) magna cum laude (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz)
- 2014: Habilitation in Biochemistry (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz)
Her research centers on molecular pathways in neurodegeneration and healthy aging, integrating biochemical analysis of age-related neurological disorders with molecular biology techniques. This work bridges fundamental biochemistry and clinical psychiatry to identify mechanisms preserving cognitive function during aging.
Scientific Awards:
- 2015: Hans-Jörg Weitbrecht-Preis für Klinische Neurowissenschaften
- 2006: IFZN Early Career Researcher Award for outstanding doctoral thesis
While specific advising roles and grants aren't documented here, her group leadership implies mentorship responsibilities. Her laboratory focuses on experimental models of neurodegenerative processes within the university's medical research infrastructure.
