Prof. Dr. Kristina Dietz is a Professor at the Department of International Relations with a focus on Latin America at the University of Kassel. She is also a board member of the Maria Sibylla Merian Center for Advanced Latin American Studies (CALAS) and the Centro de Estudios Latinoamericanos (CELA). Her work bridges academic research with policy engagement, focusing on socio-ecological conflicts in Latin America.

She explores tensions between sustainability goals and resource exploitation, emphasizing democracy theory, social movements, and critical agrarian studies.
Publications & Projects: Her recent 2025 articles in Political Geography and Nomos eLibrary analyze green hydrogen transitions and energy policy in Latin America. She co-led the GLOCON project (2014-2019) on land conflicts in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, funded by Germany’s BMBF. Earlier, she directed the Fair Fuels? project on biofuel policy (2009-2013).
