Kristin Slungård

Kristin Slungård is a Doctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Special Needs Education within the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Oslo. Her work focuses on behavioral strengths and difficulties in adolescents, particularly addressing shyness and inclusive education through psychosocial and cultural-historical frameworks.

Her research explores how shy middle school students navigate transitions and exercise agency, often employing phenomenological and sociocultural lenses. Recent projects emphasize voicing perspectives of marginalized learners and integrating interdisciplinary themes in educational practices.

Slungård's publications highlight intersections between curriculum development, adolescent well-being, and inclusive pedagogy. She is actively involved in the Speaking up for the quiet ones initiative and the Inclusion and Diversity in Education (IncluDEd) research group. Her methodological approach includes survey design and cultural-historical activity theory.
