Kristin M. Hawley is a Professor of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri and Director of the Center for Evidence-Based Youth Mental Health. She holds affiliations with the Missouri Prevention Science Institute and co-developed the Family Access Center of Excellence. Her work focuses on improving mental health service delivery for youth through implementation science, clinical training, and evidence-based interventions.
Education: B.A. from University of Missouri-Columbia; M.A. and Ph.D. from UCLA; postdoctoral training at San Diego State University and Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. Clinical training includes roles at UCLA’s Semel Institute, Didi Hirsch Community Mental Health Services, and multiple child development centers.
Research emphasizes access to effective mental health interventions in schools, clinics, and communities. Key areas include implementation barriers, provider engagement, and training systems for clinicians. Her HEART for Youth Lab develops tools to support clinical practice and program evaluation.
Teaching focuses on evidence-based treatments for children/adolescents and clinical supervision. Active in professional training through practicum supervision and consultation.
Lab activities center on translating research into practical solutions for youth mental health via the HEART for Youth Lab located in 317 Psychology Building.
