Kristin Kurianski

Kristin Kurianski is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at California State University, Fullerton (CSUF). She holds a PhD in Mathematics from MIT and a BS in Applied Mathematics from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. Her research focuses on mathematical modeling, dynamical systems, mathematical epidemiology, and wave-type phenomena. She has led or co-led multiple grants totaling over $1.6 million, including projects on vaccination dynamics modeling, data science infrastructure, and equity-minded STEM education reform.

Key grants include the NSF Transforming Undergraduate Mathematics Education (2022-2025), the California Education Learning Lab (2023-2027), and studies on infectious disease models with changing vaccination attitudes. She actively mentors graduate and undergraduate researchers, including projects on vaccine ideology and classical guitar acoustics analysis.

Her awards include the 2024 MGB-SIAM Early Career Fellowship, CSUF teaching and scholarship recognitions, and an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship. Kurianski is committed to equity in education, leading initiatives to humanize mathematics instruction and foster inclusive learning environments through active learning frameworks.

She teaches MATH 150A and MATH 497, with Spring 2025 office hours Tuesdays 9-10 AM and Thursdays 1-3 PM. Her work bridges theoretical mathematics with applied research in public health and education equity, supported by collaborative projects with national mathematical societies and interdisciplinary teams.
