Kristin Helstad

Kristin Helstad is a Professor of Pedagogy at the University of Inland Norway and OsloMet (part-time position), affiliated with the Faculty of Teacher Education and Pedagogy and the Department of Pedagogy at the Teacher Education. She holds a doctorate from the University of Oslo (2013) and a major in Norwegian didactics (1996). Her academic career includes roles as an Assistant Professor (1997) and further education in school leadership. She serves as course director for master's programs in educational leadership, and lectures/supervises in principal education and teacher training across multiple institutions.

Her research focuses on school development, educational leadership, teaching in higher education, and academic writing. Key projects include 'ChangeLead' (leadership of reform in upper secondary schools) and 'ProAct' (retention strategies for students). She co-leads research groups like Quality in Higher Education (HINN) and Educational Management (OsloMet). Her work bridges educational policy, institutional practices, and leadership dynamics in both school and higher education contexts.

Helstad has extensive teaching experience in primary/secondary schools and higher education, including roles at UiO, HINN, and OsloMet. Previously, she served as editor at Universitetsforlaget. Her publications emphasize strategic educational management, leadership in upper secondary schools, and collaborative professional learning.
