Dr Kristian Strutt is a Senior Lecturer and Director of the Archaeological Prospection Services of Southampton at the University of Southampton. His expertise lies in archaeological mapping, geophysical survey techniques, and historical landscape analysis. He has conducted extensive fieldwork across Europe, the Mediterranean, and Egypt, focusing on Roman urbanism, ancient deltas, and cultural heritage preservation. His research integrates geomorphology with archaeological interpretation to understand human-environment interactions in historical contexts.
Key projects include studies on the Tiber delta's Roman management systems, Nile delta dynamics impacting ancient Egyptian landscapes, and geophysical surveys at sites like Ostia Antica, Portus, and Çatalhöyük. He has also directed excavations in the UK and contributed to international projects in Syria, Spain, and Egypt.
