Dr. Kristen Thomasen is an Associate Professor and Senior Chair of Law, Robotics, & Society at the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law, and an Associate Member of the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Law, Technology and Society. Her research critically examines legal, social, and ethical dimensions of robotic and automated technologies, particularly their impact on public spaces and information governance. She teaches courses on Law, Robotics, and Tort Law, and holds North America’s first law faculty position specializing in Law & Robotics.

Her research focuses on privacy harms in public spaces, leveraging feminist and legal geography theories to advocate for legal reforms in Canadian tort law. She has held roles as Assistant Professor at UBC’s Peter A. Allard School of Law (2021-2024) and the University of Windsor’s Faculty of Law (2017-2020).
