Kristen Sullivan is a Collaborative Voice Instructor in the Department of Music and Theatre Education at Arkansas State University, within the College of Liberal Arts and Communication. She holds a DMA from the University of North Texas and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Performing Arts Health at the same institution. She is a trained vocologist from the National Center for Voice and Speech and a former intern at UT Southwestern Medical Clinic's Voice Clinic.
Her research interests include Performing Arts Health, Voice Science, Vocal Pedagogy, Applied Voice, Early Music Performance Practice, Acting in Song/Opera, Belting and Crossover Training, Anatomy and Physiology of Singing, and the contributions of women in music and pedagogy, particularly Augusta Holmès, Lucile Grétry, Francesca Caccini, Emma Diruf Seiler, Mathilda Marchesi, and Barbara Doscher. She is also engaged in the promotion of New Music.
Her scholarly and performance articles reflect a strong interdisciplinary focus on vocal health, music education, and historical music revival. She has contributed to publications such as Classical Singer and Czech Music Quarterly, with topics ranging from teaching voice to the cultural dynamics of music festivals in the Czech Republic.

Sullivan is an active performer and researcher, presenting at upcoming conferences including the Southwest American Choral Directors Association, International Congress of Voice Teachers, The Voice Foundation Symposium, PAMA, and the International Women’s Brass Conference. She has been invited as a visiting scholar to Palaský University in Olomouc, Czechia, and to present in Santiago, Chile. She has produced North American premieres of operatic works by female composers and is planning a recording project with Centaur Records.
