Kristen Iversen is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at the University of Cincinnati, where she teaches literary nonfiction and serves as Nonfiction Editor of The Cincinnati Review. Her award-winning scholarship merges investigative journalism with memoir to examine environmental, historical, and social justice themes.
Her research focuses on:
- Nuclear history and environmental contamination
- Biographical reconstruction of historical figures
- Creative nonfiction methodologies
- Documentary film adaptation
Recipient of two Colorado Book Awards and a Fulbright Scholarship, Iversen's Full Body Burden has been adopted by over 30 universities for common reading programs. Her current projects include a biography of Nikola Tesla and research on Norway's nuclear policies. Iversen regularly contributes to The New York Times, The Nation, and The American Scholar, and has appeared on NPR, BBC, and PBS documentaries.
