Prof. Krista Kodres is a Professor at the Institute of Art History and Visual Culture at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her research focuses on the theory and history of art history, Soviet-era art historiography, and early modern architecture and art. She serves as editor-in-chief of the 7-volume History of Estonian Art and has authored influential works like Presenting Oneself (2014) and Beautiful House, Beautiful Space (2001).
She pioneered studies on post-Reformation sacred architecture in Estonia and led major projects such as the national research initiative Historizing Art (2015–2018). Currently, she directs the Art History in the Contact Zone project exploring popular and fictional mediations of art history.
Teaching includes courses on classical architecture (BA), art history theory, and architectural research (MA). She has advised multiple doctoral theses at the Estonian Academy of Arts and received the 2014 State Research Award in Humanities for her 2014 monograph.
