Krista Billingsley is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida. Her work focuses on transitional justice, human rights, and disaster management, particularly in South Asia and post-conflict societies. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (2011–2018) and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of West Florida (2005–2007).
Previously, she served as a Graduate Teaching Associate and Assistant at the University of Tennessee, where she also taught undergraduate and graduate courses. Her research has been supported by grants including the Wenner-Gren Foundation Dissertation Fieldwork Grant and the GTA@OIT Grant for Teaching and Learning.
Her research interests include the intersection of anthropology with transitional justice mechanisms, child rights advocacy in conflict zones, and the ethical challenges of rapid-response ethnography. She has contributed to policy dialogues on refugee inclusion in pandemic response and water conservation strategies.
Billingsley has received multiple accolades, including the Chancellor’s Award for Extraordinary Professional Promise and the Charles H. Faulkner Travel Award. She actively participates in professional networks such as the American Anthropological Association and serves as a peer reviewer for academic journals.
