Krishnan Prabhakaran is an Associate Professor of Biology at Norfolk State University's College of Science, Engineering and Technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the University of Madras and trained in Neurotoxicology at Purdue University.
His research investigates:
- Environmental/chemical contributors to neurodegeneration
- Oxidative stress mechanisms in Parkinson's/Alzheimer's
- Mitochondrial dysfunction pathways
- Nanoparticle applications in biomedicine
Recent publications explore nanoparticle synthesis, manganese neurotoxicity signaling, and cancer cell cytotoxicity. Research combines experimental biology with material science approaches.
