A/Prof Kris Rogers is a biostatistician with over 19 years of experience in health and medical research at the University of Technology Sydney's Graduate School of Health. He provides statistical expertise to researchers in clinical and public health research, with publications in high-impact journals including The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, BMJ, and PLoS Medicine.
Dr Rogers completed his PhD in 2006 and Master of Biostatistics in 2008, both from the University of Sydney. He is also an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at The George Institute for Global Health since October 2021. In addition to his academic role, he serves as an Expert Statistical Reviewer for PLoS Medicine and the Lancet Journal Series.
Rogers specializes in the statistical aspects of studies using large routinely collected health datasets and pragmatic cluster trials. His research spans public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, and clinical trials methodology. He has made significant contributions to understanding chronic pain in children, antimicrobial resistance patterns, preconception health, stroke rehabilitation, and physical activity interventions.
His extensive publication record demonstrates expertise across diverse health domains, with recent work focusing on geospatial analysis of antimicrobial resistance, psychological aspects of chronic pain, and evaluating public health interventions in both high and low-resource settings. His statistical approach emphasizes practical applications of complex methods to generate meaningful health evidence.
Dr Rogers actively contributes to major research initiatives through multiple funded projects including implementation of the Australian Physical Activity Clinical Practice Guideline, genomics and palliative care integration, pain self-management programs, and community pharmacist-led interventions for urinary tract infections and minor skin conditions.
Within the Graduate School of Health, he teaches statistics in evidence-based practice subjects, focusing on modern approaches to statistical inference. His expertise in study designs including complex surveys, cohort studies with routinely collected data, and clinical trials makes him a valuable resource for health researchers seeking rigorous statistical analysis.
