Elaine Nicholls is a Research Fellow in Biostatistics and Biostatistician affiliated with Keele University's School of Medicine. She has worked at Keele since 2005, focusing on clinical trials and epidemiological studies. Her roles include statistical support for the Keele Clinical Trials Unit and contributing to musculoskeletal health research. She holds a PhD (2016, part-time) on hand pain progression in older adults, alongside degrees in Mathematics and Statistics (1998) and Biometry (1999).
Research Interests: Elaine specializes in clinical trial design, longitudinal data analysis, and musculoskeletal health research. Her work emphasizes improving shared decision-making in osteoporosis care and evaluating interventions for chronic pain and osteoarthritis.
Publications: Her recent work includes protocols for randomized controlled trials (e.g., iFraP study on osteoporosis medicine uptake) and analyses of gout flare trajectories and bracing efficacy in knee osteoarthritis. She collaborates widely across rheumatology, epidemiology, and healthcare systems research.
