Dr. Kris Bryden serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Music at Iowa State University, teaching music theory and technology. She holds a PhD in Music Theory (University of Wisconsin-Madison, 2001), MM in Music Theory (UW-Madison, 1993), and BM in Flute Performance (Idaho State University, 1979). Her research focuses on closure in late 20th-century music, atonal composition tools, and interdisciplinary projects converting scientific data into music via AI-driven tools. She collaborates with computer science, mathematics, biology, and engineering faculty to develop music composition systems for analyzing complex datasets in virtual reality environments.
- Research Affiliation: Virtual Reality Application Center
Her work bridges music theory with computational methods, emphasizing real-time composition and data sonification. Current projects integrate VR environments to enhance scientific data interpretation across engineering and biological domains.
