Kreza Maria is a Permanent Assistant Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Education at the University of Crete. She holds a PhD in Educational Sciences from Université Charles de Gaulle Lille 3 (2010), an MA in Educational Sciences (2003), and a BSc in Preschool Education (2001) from Democritus University of Thrace. Her academic career includes roles as Lecturer at the Pedagogical Department of Preschool Education (2015–2019) and ESPE de Caen (2011–2015).
Dr. Maria’s research focuses on preschool and primary education pedagogy, with emphasis on literacy development, metacognition in early learning, and cross-cultural educational comparisons. She has conducted comparative studies between French and Greek early childhood education systems, exploring teaching practices and cognitive development pathways.
Her publication record spans over 15 years, examining topics like explicit teaching strategies in literacy, preschool classroom dynamics, and teacher-student interactions. Recent work analyzes literacy acquisition in multilingual contexts and innovative pedagogical approaches for very young children (ages 2-3).
Active in international academic networks, she has presented at conferences including UKLA (2021, 2018), European Conference on Literacy (2017), and ARCD colloquia. Her work bridges didactic theory with practical classroom applications, emphasizing evidence-based teaching methods.
