Kostas Bakoyannis is an Adjunct Professor at the Hertie School in Berlin, combining academic teaching with strategic consulting. He held significant political roles including Mayor of Athens (2019–2023), Governor of Central Greece (2014–2019), and Mayor of Karpenissi (2011–2014). His academic journey includes a D.Phil. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of Oxford (2019), an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School (2004), and a BA in History and International Relations from Brown University (2000).
His research interests focus on public policy implementation, international governance, and sustainable development. He has advised on macroeconomic strategies and contributed to regional security initiatives through his military and diplomatic experience.
