Prof. Dr. Konstantinos Nikolopoulos serves as Professor and Working Group Leader for Particle and Astroparticle Physics and Detector Development at the Institute of Experimental Physics, University of Hamburg, within the Department of Physics and Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science and Natural Sciences.
His research program focuses on three interconnected domains:
- Investigation of electroweak symmetry breaking and Higgs sector physics at LHC and future colliders
- Direct detection of light dark matter through NEWS-G, IAXO, DarkSide-20k and MIGDAL experiments
- Advanced detector development for collider experiments and rare-event searches
Prof. Nikolopoulos actively supervises Bachelor and Master theses while recruiting PhD candidates and scientific staff for ongoing projects. His working group maintains significant involvement in international collaborations including CERN-LHC, NEWS-G, IAXO, and DarkSide-20k programs with Hamburg serving as a key research hub for these initiatives.
