معرفی
Konstantinos Lekkos is a DPhil student at the University of Oxford, affiliated with the Medical Sciences Division and the Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics. He is funded by the Medical Research Council (MRC), St John’s College, and the department. His research explores the role of oxidative metabolism in cardiomyocyte redifferentiation during zebrafish heart regeneration, while also investigating skeletal muscle differentiation and arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) mechanisms.
- Education: Integrated MSci in Molecular Biology (2023), University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Research Focus: Leveraging zebrafish models to study heart regeneration, with a focus on metabolic pathways driving cardiomyocyte redifferentiation. Additional work spans skeletal muscle biology and ARVC pathogenesis, particularly the interplay of complement/coagulation systems.
- Funding: MRC, St John’s College, and Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (Oxford).
Experience: Year-long research placement and an additional year as a research assistant in the Mommersteeg Group; Honours project at the Lionikas Lab; work on ARVC under Prof Mavroidis at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, Greece.
