Konstantinos Kapparis

Konstantinos Kapparis is a Professor of Classics and UF Foundation Research Professor at the University of Florida, serving as Director of the Center for Greek Studies. His academic journey includes studies under D.M. MacDowell at the University of Glasgow. His research focuses on Attic Orators, Athenian Law, Greek/Roman Medical Authors, Women’s History, Gender Studies, and Graeco-Roman Social History.

He has authored notable works including Women in the Law-Courts of Classical Athens (2021), Athenian Law and Society (2020), and Prostitution in the Ancient Greek World (2018). He has contributed to over 50 graduate committees and actively supports the Classics Department’s Distance Learning Program.

Kapparis emphasizes student achievements and outreach, fostering ties with Florida’s Greek-American communities and schools. His work bridges ancient legal and social histories with modern interdisciplinary studies.
