Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer is a prominent environmental scientist and policy expert, currently serving as the Founding Director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) in Potsdam. He previously held the position of Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and served as Germany's Federal Minister for the Environment. Töpfer is also Chairman of the Federal Government’s Ethics Commission for a Secure Energy Supply.
