Klaus Mönig

Klaus Mönig is a Lead Scientist at DESY's Zeuthen site and a Private Lecturer at Humboldt University Berlin. His academic career spans decades of experimental particle physics, with a focus on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

• Education: Studied physics at the University of Wuppertal (1981–1986), earned a doctorate there (1986–1990), and completed a habilitation at the University of Hamburg (2000).

Research Interests: Driven by unanswered questions in the Standard Model, Mönig investigates dark matter, matter-antimatter asymmetry, and the Higgs boson's role in mass generation through high-energy proton collisions at the LHC. His work leverages DESY's leadership in the ATLAS experiment to explore new particles and physics beyond current theoretical frameworks.

Affiliations & Roles: He has held key responsibilities in the ATLAS experiment, including publications manager, coordinator for new particle searches, and physics coordinator. Since 1998, he has been a Senior Scientist at DESY, with extended research stays at CERN (1991–1998, 2011–2012, 2016–2020) and LAL Orsay (2005).
