Çiğdem İşsever is a Senior Scientist at DESY and holds a Professor position at Humboldt University Berlin, alongside a Visiting Professor role at the University of Oxford. She leads the Particle Physics group at DESY in Zeuthen and the Experimental High Energy Physics group at Humboldt University Berlin.
Her research centers on dark matter signatures in LHC collision events involving Higgs bosons decaying into b-quarks, jet reconstruction techniques, and the application of machine learning to improve particle identification. She also explores quantum technologies for particle detection and non-accelerator-based experiments to probe physics beyond the Standard Model.
Scientific Awards:
- Helmholtz Distinguished Professorship
Issever is committed to public science outreach, notably founding the ATLAScraft project, which allows exploration of CERN and the ATLAS experiment via Minecraft.
